Emilia-Romagna: an open-air laboratory for smart cities

The Emilia-Romagna innovation ecosystem, of which our Technopole has been a part since 2017, lands in Barcelona to show the world how our cities are facing the challenges of the future. At the ART-ER stand, experts and researchers will discuss crucial topics such as sustainable mobility, the use of data to improve citizens’ lives, and solutions for responsible tourism.
In addition to ART-ER and the Emilia-Romagna Region, the regional delegation will be composed of Clust-ER BUILD, Clust-ER URBAN, Clust-ER TOURISM, Big Data Association, our Technopole and the Technopoles of Bologna CNR, Ferrara, Parma, Ravenna and Reggio Emilia.

As the Bologna-Ozzano Technopole, we work on the connections between the environment, our brain health and cognitive wellbeing at all ages, and the city is often the most important environment for living and working, so it is crucial to understand its development trends. Indeed, the city is the container within which we spend a large part of our existence and therefore it has a major impact on our quality of life, present and future. Cognitive wellbeing and our brain health depend significantly on the environment and correct lifestyles; a SMART city must be sustainable but also oriented towards the all-round health of its citizens and fully inclusive.
